Sand Flounder, (Rhombosolea plebeia), is widespread around New Zealand in sandy inshore
areas. It has a wide diamond shaped body that has a dark greenish brown upper surface
with a white underbelly. Usually 25-35 cm in length, can grow to 45 cm. Their diet
consists of a variety of small sediment animals, mainly brittlestars and marine worms.
A prime eating fish.
